A do-follow link is simply a normal link. When a page links to another page without adding attributes such as nofollow, sponsored or ugc, search engines may treat the link as a vote of confidence. Many publications add those attributes to outbound links, especially in contributed or partner content.
Search engines ask that paid links carry a sponsored or nofollow attribute. That is one reason we never sell guaranteed placements as a link building or ranking tactic. Whether an outlet uses do-follow or nofollow links is its own editorial decision, and it can change at any time.
The value of a placement is the proof itself: a real feature buyers can read, a badge for your site and a result for your name in search. If links matter to you, ask about them on your strategy call, and we will share what we know about each outlet's current approach.
